YouTube Transcript Extractor

A Chrome extension that pulls the captions out of a YouTube video and gives you the whole transcript with timestamps — right on the video page. Copy it, download it, or search a two-hour recording for the one sentence you need.

What it is for

Students going back over a lecture, writers pulling show notes out of an interview, anyone who has to find one line in a webinar recorded an hour ago. Reading is faster than scrubbing.

How it works

The extension reads the captions YouTube already has for a video — it does not transcribe the audio itself, so a video with no captions has nothing to extract. When captions exist, manual or automatic, you get the full text with timestamps and can jump straight to any moment.

What is free and what is paid

Today the extension is free to use in full. Install it from the Chrome Web Store: nothing to pay, nothing to sign up for, no limit being counted.

The plans above are for the paid release, which is in preparation. When it arrives, your first 10 transcripts stay free — enough to see whether it fits how you work — and a subscription covers use beyond that, together with the two enhanced features:

Enhanced transcript — the raw captions cleaned up into readable text, with the stray line breaks, duplicated phrases and missing punctuation of auto-generated captions sorted out.
Enhanced translation — the transcript translated into any of the 52 supported languages, translated as continuous text rather than caption fragments.

Billing and cancelling

Nothing is billed until the paid release ships; the prices above are what it will cost. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, who are the merchant of record and send your receipt and invoice — the yearly plan works out at $3.99 a month.

You can cancel at any time at paddle.net — look up your purchase with the email address you paid with and cancel the subscription there. Cancelling stops future charges and leaves your access running to the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Your invoices live in the same portal. How you get access

Delivery is digital and immediate — there is nothing to ship and nothing to wait for. Paying takes you straight back with the plan active on the email address you paid with, and your receipt and invoice arrive by email at the same time.
